Question
Hi, we recently purchased an adorable male Yorkie at 8 weeks old. We believe he is the runt of the litter.
He is now 5 months old and has a very disturbing cough, especially when he wakes up.
He is very active and eats quite well. He plays with our other two babies, ShuShu a 3 year old mini schnauzer and Roy, a 14 year old mix. (both of our older guys weigh under 20 lbs.).
We have taken Jack to two vets so far and they all say that it is really nothing to worry about.
However, in the past few days, Jack’s cough is getting worse, like I said before, especially when he wakes up from a nap or a night sleep.
We are very concerned.
Answer
I am sorry but I only have experience with illnesses which have occurred with my little ones.
I would not want to try guessing what could be wrong with your yorkie.
What I would do in your case is definately take him to another vet and tell them that the cough is getting worse. Then do not leave until they thoroughly check Jack and give you an explanation or diagnosis for why he has this cough.
I am sorry I could not be any more help.

I also have a yorkie who will be one year old this tuesday. He always sounds like he is congested and sneezes a lot. i also believe that my yorkie was the runt of his litter. can yorkies have allergies? or does this sound normal?
