We have 3 Yorkies
Actually Nacho, our first is a Skye Terrier – looks much like a Yorkie, just a bit different. He is 11 years old. He is THE BOSS. Hard to trim his nails and hair. A very good watch dog – and if there is a mouse in the house, he won’t quit barking until I realize what he is trying to tell me. Very protective of me – the mom. This made my boys sad, so we got another dog…
Our second dog is actually a Yorkie-poodle. His name is Elvis — ’cause he’s a Hound Dog! He was the runt of the litter but now weighs (at 11 years old) 23 lbs. We are surprised at his size. The breeders showed us the mother and father – but I don’t think they were truthful in that. But we love Elvis – he is our loverboy. So mellow and sweet and very smart. He was easy to train. When walking with me — after the first block or so he just plops down and refuses to go any further.
Our third dog is a true Yorkie. We got him from a sweet older woman who was going into assisted living and couldn’t take him with her. Her son jokingly called him “Kojack” after that bald cop starring Telly Savalis show from about 20 years ago.
The woman was from our town and she was so, so sad she had to give Kojack up. So I said, well – why don’t you be the mom, and we will be his adopted family – and you can see him whenever you want? She was overjoyed at the situation and visited him at our house several times for about a year. Sadly, after about a year she passed away. But we made her happy, and she was a good friend to our family. We gained a dog & a good friend!
Kojack is already 14 years old — about 86 in human years and today I am taking him into the Vet – his back right leg has been giving out on him when he walks- and I don’t want him to be in pain. I’ve heard of some small dogs living 17 years. But if not, we had this angel for a good time. We spoil him and he is a sweetheart to us.
Thanks for letting me talk about our sweeties!
