Question
How often do yorkies pee and poop? I have a 4 month old yorkie and sometimes he will pee and poop on his bed.
Sometimes when I come up to him he will pee like crazy.
I mean my mom’s chihuahua just pees a little when she is excited but my yorkie just pours down on his bed.
What can i do?
Answer
Small dogs do have to use the bathroom much more often than large dogs, so the first question you should ask yourself is whether your Yorkie is having enough time to eliminate in the place you want him to eliminate.
Dogs will not eliminate on their beds if they can help it, but sometimes, like humans, they just have to go!
Make sure you are letting your Yorkie out at least once every two to three hours to go to the bathroom.
As he ages, he won’t need to go out so often, although his bladder and bowels are still much smaller than those found in larger breeds.
If taking him out more often doesn’t help, you should consider taking him to the vet to see if there is an underlying condition that is causing the problem.
This can also be a sign of a urinary tract infection or other bacterial infection.
If there are no health problems and you still need more help with potty training please look at our yorkie training pages or take a look at our yorkshire terrier training guide book.

Yorkie, jumps on dining room table and pees where I have eaten. What is this about? Also she pees next to her breakfast. I have the doors open and motion to follow my other dogs outside to pee but she does not,
